What's New for 2021?
The Subaru Ascent has included adaptive cruise control as standard equipment since its inception. However, the latest iteration gets an upgrade to Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control. In addition to maintaining a preset distance from leading vehicles, the system adds Lane-Centering technology, which can make subtle steering adjustments to keep you in the middle of the lane. Also new for 2021, Steering-Responsive LED headlights are now standard on the base tier.

Design and Accommodations
The new Ascent makes a strong first impression with a broad-shouldered stance, bold front fascia, and unmistakable Subaru style. It rides high on standard 18- or available 20-inch alloy wheels, and 8.7 inches of ground clearance give the midsize crossover leading capability on dirt or snow.On the inside, The Dalles families will enjoy a refined and inviting cabin with ample elbow room, high-quality materials, and intuitive controls. The Subaru Ascent provides comfortable seating for up to eight people, or seven with available second-row captain's chairs. Split-folding second and third rows deliver flexible passenger and cargo arrangements and up to 86 cubic feet of maximum carrying capacity.
Notable comfort amenities include standard three-zone automatic climate control, available heated and ventilated seats, and an available panoramic sunroof.
Performance
Despite its larger size, Ascent gets up to speed without a hitch thanks to its robust turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. With a smooth and responsive continuously variable transmission, 260 horsepower, and 277 pound-feet of torque, Ascent has plenty of internal motivation for quick and confident highway merging or passing maneuvers. For adventures away from the asphalt, Ascent excels with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive and X-MODE traction and hill descent control. And with composed handling and nearly nine inches of ground clearance, it's well suited to inclement conditions and uneven terrain.
